Flash drives are big business nowadays, ranging from the modest 1GB capacity, right up to a monstrous 1TB models that are appearing.  For most people, a few gigabytes of storage space are enough to transport those important documents or music files around. One of the main problems with USB 2 flash drives, is that they are incredibly slow, even the "fast" ones!  This isn't particularly a fault of the drive itself, but more so, the USB 2 platform on which it has to adhere to.  Best case scenario would give 30MB/Sec or so reads and low 20s for the writes, and that was on the fastest USB 2 drive that we'd used. USB 3 has been a long time coming, the first implementations on many motherboards were quite frankly awful, and this undoubtedly slowed down the rise of USB 3.  Many motherboards are now fully functional as far as USB 3 goes, and the driver side of things has come on leaps and bounds in the last year or so.  For that reason, we are starting to see more USB flash drive appearing, but as with all early tech, the prices have until now been rather high. Today, we are going to take a look at a USB 3 flash drive from a company called MX-Technology, the drive is the MX-GX, or to give it its full title, the Mach Xtreme GX.  The GX (from here on in) comes in 8/16/32 and 64GB capacities.  We have the 16GB version for review today, and this promises 140MB/Sec reads, and 30MB/Sec writes. The MX-GX retails for around £30 euros, making it just a few pounds more expensive than the fastest USB2 drives of the same capacity. Will the MX-GX live up to to the USB 3 hype?  Read on to find out...
