Just when we thought that there couldn't be any more variations on the X58 platform, along comes another, this time in the form of the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Rev 2.  Motherboard revisions are often quietly rolled out, and this one was no exception. There was no press release, and there isn't even a different SKU, yet things are a little different than they were. What are the differences then?  The first, and perhaps most obvious change, is the IOH cooler, previously, the UD7 came with the same kind of water block as the "Extreme" models, that is now replaced with a finned heat sink, but the water block is supplied in the box -  Underneath the cooling set up is another major change, the Rev 1 UD7 features Gigabyte's much trumpeted 24 phase PWM section, this has been trimmed down to 16 phases.  We asked Gigabyte why exactly this was, and if there was something special about the 16 phases, they were predictably tight lipped about it, but did give us a small amount of info and we'll look at that later. So there are a few small changes, but what does this mean for the consumer, and will the UD7 Rev 2 be as good as the Rev 1?  Read on to find out...
