We have had more than a few requests to take a long hard look at the nVidia GTX 480. Unfortunately [for me and the Florida Lab] we have not had much chance to do that. We have been unable to get anyone to send us their flavor of the Fermi consumer based GPU. However, in an interesting twist, EVGA has sent us their water cooled variant. We were pleasantly shocked to find a large box from EVGA sitting on the door step, and even more shocked to find the GTX 480 Hydro Copper FTW and a few extra goodies inside. So without too much of my usual rambling preamble let’s dive in and see if the DX11 card from EVGA and the green team and live up to all the hype.
