During the last generation of SSDs when the majority of models were limited to SATA 2 speeds there was one manufacturer who was pushing the boundaries with a SATA 3 model and that company was Crucial. Their C300 drive was easily the fastest drive available for read speeds and to this day is still considered a high end model by most. Other manufacturers don't stand still though and in the past couple of months we have seen OCZ preview their Vertex 3 architecture and Intel release their first SATA 3 model. Both of these exceed the performance of the C300 in the majority of tests and so it was time for Crucial to think about refreshing their product range.
