As a PC is only as strong as its weakest component, there’s little point buying that expensive graphics card or CPU if your PSU doesn’t have the ability to power it. Many cheap generic models can’t even output their claimed wattage and are also often unstable, and a poor PSU can also cause stability issues, excessive electric noise or even component failure in extreme cases.
